Aging is a natural process that is touted to be inevitable. One can see wrinkles, fine lines and crow’s feet around the eyes on the face with every year that goes by. We believe that aging should only positively affect one’s wisdom and not those rugged good looks!
Dr Balvant Arora, our award-winning Board Certified Plastic Surgeon has found the perfect solution to stop aging in its tracks! And no, don’t worry it does not involve undergoing extensive surgery.
Our solution to combat Aging is pretty simple and literally on point – Botox! Botox is a minimally invasive and highly efficient way to stop new wrinkles from forming on your skin and diminish or eradicate the existing wrinkles.
What Is Botox?
Botox is the short form of BOtulinum TOXin. It is produced by a bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum.
Botox is a neurotoxin that cosmetically helps in getting rid of any fine lines and wrinkles which develop with age. It helps in restoring the smooth and youthful appearance of the face.
Botox also helps in correcting certain medical conditions like hyperhidrosis, eye twitching, lazy eye, cervical dystonia, bladder dysfunction, and migraine etc.
How Does Botox Work?
There is a neurotransmitter known as Acetylcholine which attaches to receptors on the muscle cells and causes the muscle cells to contract or shorten. Botox injections prevent the release of Acetylcholine, which stops muscle cells from contracting. Thus Botox primarily paralyzes the underlying muscles, that cause the dynamic wrinkles of the face, where it is injected and thus halts the creation of the wrinkles. This is a temporary pause which lasts about 4 months.
At The Hair Loss Clinic, led by Dr Balvant Arora, botox is a minimally invasive and effective procedure that helps to get rid of some of the common issues like frown lines, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet (wrinkles around eyes), etc. As these come under the category of dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles formed due to action of underlying muscles while expressing emotions like frowning, smiling etc.), Botox is highly effective in these cases.
Static wrinkles (wrinkles that tend to deepen and stay even after muscles contract or relax) on the other hand do not benefit from Botox.
What To Expect At The Consultation?
During the first visit, our doctor will obtain detailed medical history and surgical history and history of any facial treatment taken so far. Medical and surgical treatment options will be discussed. If you are the right candidate for Botox, the process will be explained.
Consultation is an important factor when it comes to Botox. Understanding the facial structure and the patient’s desire is also very important. At The Hair Loss Clinic, Dr Balvant Arora takes utmost care to cater to the patient’s requirement.
What To Expect Before The Process?
Here is what you can expect on the day of your procedure:
How Is The Process Performed At The Hair Loss Clinic?
Botox is a minimally invasive process and thus does not need any anaesthesia. It is directly injected into the problem areas to correct the issue at hand.
For the procedure, a very thin needle is used in order to insert small amounts of botulinum toxin. Dr Balvant Arora takes utmost care that only the wrinkle producing muscles are targeted so as to not disturb the natural features of the face.
The amount of injections depends upon the extent of the wrinkles as well as the facial structure. It can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes to administer Botox and the results of the same are fully visible after about 72 hours.
What Is The Recovery Like After Botox Treatment?
The recovery after the treatment is quite simple. The doctor generally advises the application of ice to the injected area so as to control the swelling or soreness that might occur.
The doctor also suggests avoiding vigorous exercise for 4 hours after the procedure and also avoid applying any pressure or massaging the injected areas as this may move the Botox to other areas.
Apart from this, there are no additional precautions that need to be taken after the procedure. Generally, patients resume their work immediately after a few hours on the same day.
What Are The Risks Associated With Botox?
Like every other procedure, there are a few rare risks associated with Botox as well. Some of them include:
Although these risks are very rare, utmost care must be taken before, after and during the process so as to avoid these risks from turning into a reality.
In case you are wondering whether or not Botox is right for you, we invite you for a consultation at The Hair Loss Clinic with our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr Balvant Arora, who will guide you further on this subject.
