Dr Ravi discusses breakthrough "Auto Cloning" and new
Combination therapies
Once we help you identify the cause
of your hair loss, we will determine a multiple
therapy approach to help stop your hair loss and
re-grow your hair naturally. Hair loss is now
optional.
When you meet with us for a comprehensive medical
consultation and evaluation, you will have the
opportunity to actually visualize your realistic
hair growth goal using our advanced digital
microscopic imaging system. We will then recommend a
balanced, multi-therapy treatment plan to achieve
your hair restoration objectives.
Introducing MatriStem:
Facilitates Healing
While Minimizing Scarring
MatriStem
is a natural biological material that can be
implanted at the site of an injury or damaged
tissue in order to stimulate healing. The graft
stimulates the body’s own cells to form new
tissue specific to that site (a process referred
to as “Auto-cloning”). Therefore, instead of the
body producing scar tissue, the body heals by
remodeling with new tissue, almost as if the
injury had never occurred.
MatriStem is a naturally
occurring bio-scaffold, derived from porcine
(pig) tissue. When MatriStem is placed into a
surgical site or wound, it is reabsorbed and
replaced with new, more supple tissue, rather
than a firm scar.
MatriStem has been shown to
promote rapid tissue remodeling by promoting
neovascularization (growth of new blood vessels)
and recruiting host-derived mesenchymal cells
(cells that lay down collagen and potentially
can promote the formation of hair). These
effects result in quicker healing of wounds and
less scarring.
The MatriStem devices have had
some preliminary success in allowing plucked
hairs, that were placed into recipient sites on
the patient’s scalp, to grow. It is also
anticipated that MatriStem will facilitate the
healing of the incision in the donor area after
a hair transplant by its regenerative
properties. We offer MatriStem to patients
undergoing follicular unit transplant procedures
at no additional charge.
HAIR
TRANSPLANT AND RESTORATION SURGERY, like
all other plastic surgeries, is an art. It requires
an expert surgeon such as Dr.Ravi Dahiya, with over
15 years of surgical experience, a trained hand and
keen eye to create the most natural appearing
results that are undetectable to even the most
critical eye.
At
Tricological Surgical Associates, we are exclusively
dedicated to the treatment of hair loss, offering
the latest state-of-the-art medical hair transplant
and restoration procedures for both men and women.
We realize that every hair transplant
candidate has unique needs and desires. Therefore,
each individual hair restoration patient's treatment
plan is customized to their specific situation,
including age, hair type, general health, degree of
hair loss, lifestyle, and overall expectations.
We have one simple set of goals for each of our hair
transplant patients: to achieve as much naturalness
and density as possible. We feel these two goals are
best achieved when the plan is individualized for
each patient, depending on what we are presented
with.
There are a host of factors that must
be taken into account with each patient before
formulating the best plan. Some of the more
important factors are: the patient’s age, the
hair-to-skin color contrast, the caliber of the
hair, the patient’s goals for later styling, and,
perhaps most important, the ratio of available donor
hair in relation to the recipient area in need of
coverage.
At Trichological Surgical Associates, we are
fortunate to be associated with Dr.Ravi Dahiya, one
of the finest hair transplant surgeons in the
metropolitan Washington DC area. Dr. Dahiva's
hair transplant restoration team endeavors to
produce a natural appearing hairline with single,
one follicle (called a follicular unit) graft. Then
Dr. Dahiva and his surgical team carefully blend in
progressively larger grafts behind the hairline.
These grafts contain two and three hair follicles in
a single graft. They typically move four to six
times as much hair as in a standard hair transplant
approach, using follicular unit grafts throughout
the procedure, producing a completely natural
result, indiscernible to even the most critical eye.
A very important point to keep in
mind is the volume of hair one can hope to
achieve based on the number of grafts. There is
only so much donor hair available. If you
transplant hair based primarily on price per
graft, you may end up with SEE-THROUGH HAIR.
Our unique method helps us to determine
precisely the proper amount of hair available,
without bankrupting your donor area. Our goal is
to ensure the most natural hair possible at an
affordable price, based on individual hair loss
needs.
A: Almost every person with
hair loss is a candidate for hair
transplantation. However, a patient's
expectations and objectives must be realistic.
He or she must understand the limitations of the
procedure and agree on how the hair will be
placed on his or her head. The single most important factor
to consider is how much hair a patient will
loose at a later age. With this in mind, the
doctor can plan the most natural looking
hairline and shape - one that will result in the
most undetectable and natural hairstyle.
A: There really is no such thing
as an ideal age. Current data show that early
hair transplantation is easier to conceal and
allows the patient to preserve the appearance of
a full and natural head of hair. The hair loss
consultants and doctors at Trichological
Associates are fully trained to educate and
assist the patient achieve the best possible
outcome.
A: The density of hair in the
patient's pre-existing donor region will
determine how much hair is available for
transfer during hair transplantation. Obviously,
the greater the hair density, the more follicles
there are available for transplantation.
A: Generally, the hair begins to
grow within 3-5 months after the procedure and
the number of new hairs will continue to
increase for the next 8-9 months with a proper
hair hygiene program.
A: Trichological Associates
postoperative care with low level laser therapy
to alleviate inflammation that can occur to the
scalp. In addition, our combination therapy
approach allows patients to maximize their
results. A follow-up hair loss prevention
treatment program is prescribed to promote
quicker and healthier hair growth. To ensure
that our patients understand what to expect, we
discuss home care with each individual. Our
doctor personally checks on each patient on the
evening of the operation.
A: Generally, you can return to
work within a day or two following your
procedure depending on your type of work and
comfort level. However, any strenuous exercising
or lifting should not be attempted for the first
2 weeks after the procedure.
